.- we use be like to talk about someone´s character.

- what is your brother like?    - he´s kind   and very generous              
- who are you like in your family?    - people say i´m like my sister. we are both fairly shy
- are you like your father?    - not really. he´s hard-working and i´m lazy!









.- we use look like to talk about someome´s appearance

- what does your brother look like?   - he´s fairly tall, and he has short black hair and beard
- who do you look like in your family? -people say i look like my sister. we both have long blond hair 
- do you look like your father?    - no. i don´t. he´s tall i´m fairly short

.- we use the present continuos to talk about definite plans for the future.

-are you doing anything this weekend?  - yes, i´m going swimming with a friend on saturday
-are you going to sam´s party tonight?  - no, i´m not. i´m having dinner with james
-what are you doing tonight? i´m staying home and watching tv





making invitations

-would you like to have a picnic next weekend?  - i´m sorry but i can´t. i´m visiting my parents
-do you want to go to a concert on friday night?  - yes, i´d love to. that sounds great

time expressions

we often use time expressions when we are talking about the future:

-tonight
-tomorrow morning / afternoon / evening
- on saturday
-this weekend
- next week / saturday

or  -d:
love - loved

we often use time expressions when we  are talking about the past:

for... a week / six months / two years
in ... 2011 / the 1990s / june / an hour /  four days / a week / two months ago
last .... night / week / month / year
